Pomodoro companion with a twist
Puffdoro is a free Chrome Extension developed by Puffdoro Studio. It is a Pomodoro time management tool that helps users focus and get work done by breaking tasks into intervals. There are multiple time interval presets available, and it comes with calming sounds that help while timers are running.
What makes Puffdoro stand out from its contemporaries like Focus To-Do or PowerPom is that it runs entirely inside the web browser. It also employs the help of a 3D mascot that stays with users as they work. They can interact with it during their short breaks for a fun change of pace.
Soft and squishy
In a word, Puffdoro puts a curious twist on the popular time-management technique by introducing a Pomodoro mascot to the experience. If you’ve used these types of tools before, then using it will feel familiar and intuitive. You can set 15, 25, or 45 focus minutes, and it will play calming music at the end to signal that it's time to take a break.
The main highlight of Puffdoro is its charming and squishy digital companions that come in four iterations depending on the time of day and your mood. You can poke, squish, or drag them around your screen to help you relax while you’re on a break, and the experience is quite tactile thanks to its unique silicone physics. It also simulates breathing patterns for enhanced realism.
Everything runs in-browser and offline when loaded, and you can manage everything from your dashboard, including changing mascots and seeing your usage stats to gain some insights. Having said all that, it would have been nice to have an option to set custom timers. Also, while it’s undeniably charming, it can lead to possible delays or procrastination if you spend too much time with your squishy companion.
Charming, but take heed
To wrap up, if you’ve been struggling with keeping focus and staying productive, and are looking to give Pomodoro timers a try, Puffdoro is one of the more interesting implementations of the popular tool that you can consider. It’s not as customizable as other solutions, but the fact that you get a squishy work companion by your side is a reason to want to give it a go.
